The Perfect Keto Valentine’s Day Treat

Valentine’s day is coming up and you may be wondering what you should get the keto dieter that has it all? Why, fat bombs of course! They are every ketoer’s dream. It is even a gift that you can make yourself. And what is better than a homemade gift?! Now that you know what you need to do for that keto lover in your life, let us show you exactly what to do to make our keto raspberry fat bombs.

Before we get cooking, lets talk a little bit about fat bombs. What is a fat bomb? And why is it so good? The answer lies in the mechanics of the keto diet. Traditionally, people eat a good amount of carbs and the body uses these carbs as fuel. However, Keto is a low carb, high-fat diet. But cutting out the carbs, you are putting your body in a metabolic state called “ketosis”. Your body no longer has easy access to carbs for fuel so it has to turn to something else. Your body will start to burn fats in order to get energy. Using fats as an energy source has been shown to be much more efficient and better for you. We have a lot more information on how everything works here.

So if your body is using fats as energy, and you are feeling a little tired, you need to give your body a quick source of fats to help you perk up. Here come the fat bombs! Fat bombs are essentially high-fat snacks that give you a boost of healthy, keto-friendly energy. Think of them as a much better for you, afternoon candy bar. When you would have reached for some sugar to help you wake up in the past, you need to look for a lot of healthy fats to do the same. Make sense? Good! Now let’s make some fat bombs.

Fat bombs are incredibly easy to make. Essentially, you just need to mix all the ingredients together, pour them into a mold, and then freeze them until they are firm. Since we are making raspberry fat bombs for valentine’s day, we chose to pour the mix into a heart-shaped mold. You can use any shape you’d like, just try to keep them bite-sized, at about two tablespoons or less. You don’t want to eat tooooo much fat! You can find small silicone molds online, at almost any party supply store, or from a kitchenware vendor.

Once your fat bombs are firm, they are ready to eat! Store them in the fridge until you are ready to eat them. If you want to give these raspberry fat bombs as a gift for valentine’s day, you can put them in a heart-shaped box, tie it up with a bow and give the perfect homemade gift to any keto follower in your life. How perfect! They make for a thoughtful, tasty treat that is sure to be appreciated. We hope you love eating them and also making them. Enjoy!
