Low Carb Deep-Fried Avocado Goodness!

Have you been searching for a delicious keto snack? Have you been craving fries with lots of fat, but nearly 0 carbs? Does something that magical even exist? A low carb, tasty french fry snack does exist! Keto avocado fries are the answer!

Avocado fries are an incredible way to enjoy that great taste of traditional french fries that you may be craving while sticking to your low carb, high-fat diet. These fries even have the same crispy outside and soft inside as regular french fries! The difference? The carb count!

Making these keto french fries is also super simple and anyone can easily make them. To make the fries, the ripe avocado is peeled, pitted, and sliced. While you want to be sure the avocado is nice and ripe, these fries actually work great when the avocado is still a little hard. Too soft and the slices will not be as perfect as you may want them. In addition, when you cook the avocado, it will soften up from the heat. SO if your avocado is almost ripe but not quite ripe enough to eat on its own, it is perfect for making into fries!

Once you have sliced your avocado into fry-like strips, it is dipped in egg and almond meal. The almond meal (also known as almond flour) is the perfect coating for the fries- no need for high carb breadcrumbs here! The almond meal also gives the fries a delicious, nutty taste that you will simply love. The coated avocados are then fried until golden brown and enjoyed right away! Every bit of this delicious snack is full of healthy fat and is very keto-friendly. They make the perfect side dish to any meal or you can just enjoy them on their own!

We used spicy mayo (sriracha and mayonnaise- more healthy fat!) as our dipping sauce, but feel free to use other condiments like cilantro lime dip or sriracha garlic dip. Make yourself a keto ketchup and you can dip the avocado fries in that as well! Our low carb recipe cooks the avocado fries by frying them but you can also bake them to cut back on the oil! It’ll take a bit longer (15 minutes at 450°F) but if you prefer baking over the awesomeness of deep-frying, it’s totally cool. They will be just as delicious hot out of the oven as they are when they come out of the fryer!

Please read some helpful tips for deep frying at home! Some more here too.

Once you have mastered this recipe, you will see that there is no need to crave French fries while on a keto diet ever again- you have the perfect solution here! Be sure to share this awesome keto french fry recipe with your friends (those on a low carb diet and even those who aren’t)- everyone will love them! Enjoy!

Instructions
  1. Break an egg into a bowl and beat it. In another bowl, mix your almond meal with some salt and cayenne pepper.
  2. Slice each avocado in half and take out the seed.
    Slice your avocado in half
  3. Peel off the skin off every half.
And all the others as well!
  4. Slice each avocado vertically into 4 or 5 pieces (depending on the size of the avocado).
Slice each one into 4ths or 5ths
  5. Start heating your deep fryer (or deep pan with lots of oil) to about 350°F. If you don’t have a cooking thermometer, try sticking a wooden spoon into the oil when it’s been heating for about 7-8 minutes. If bubbles arise from the spoon, your oil is hot enough for deep frying!
  6. Coat each slice of avocado in the egg.
    Coat each piece in egg
  7. Roll each coated slice in the almond meal until you can barely see the green.
    Ready for frying!
  8. Carefully lower each avocado slice into the deep fryer (or pan) to avoid splashing. It will hurt!
  9. Allow each piece to fry from 45 seconds to a minute until a light brown. Dark brown means they’ve been in there a few seconds too long.
  10. Transfer quickly to a plate lined with a paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
  11. Mix some sriracha sauce and mayonnaise and get to munching!
MMM! Never going back to starch
