Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world. Whether you’re an aficionado of mushroom and meat lover’s supreme pies, you can’t get enough veggies, or you’re content with just plain cheese, everyone loves to grab a slice. Unfortunately, dieters following the low-carb regiment of the keto diet to lose weight have usually been forced to miss out on this flavorful favorite due to the high number of carbs packed in the crust. However, one restaurant is looking to help low-carb consumers get a taste of this Italian classic–without consuming a ton of carbohydrates. Boombalatti’s Pizza Company, which opened its doors on April 9th, is serving up low-carb pizza pies for ketogenic dieters who aren’t quite ready to give up the foods that they love.

A keto success story

Boombalatti’s Pizza Company is owned by husband-and-wife duo Laura and Matt Turk. The Turks are more than just masters in the kitchen–they’re also seasoned veterans of the ketogenic diet. The couple dropped a whopping 130 pounds combined by following a low-carb lifestyle. They were inspired to open their own low-carb restaurant after they realized that cutting carbohydrates from their diet didn’t have to mean eating plain old grilled chicken and veggies every single day.

“Every time I had a cheat day, I wanted pizza!” Laura told GM Today in an interview.1

What’s for dinner?

Pizza is far from the only thing on the menu at Boombalatti’s. The Turks based their menu off of Laura’s extensive family recipe collection packed with Italian classics. Current offerings at Boombalatti’s include breakfast pizza made from sausage and eggs, low-carb garlic cheesy “bread,” chicken alfredo pizza, and even lasagna. Laura whips up these low-carb pasta and bread offerings by baking with almond flour. This secret ingredient allows her to experiment with low-carb dinner and dessert recipes that will cure anyone’s cravings.

“If you want to lower some carbs and have a nice pizza, by all means, try us,” Laura said.

Boombalatti’s Pizza Company has been gaining speed on social media, with guests clamoring about the authentic taste of their keto-approved specialties. Diet-conscious customers have flooded their Facebook page with positive comments, many hailing the restaurant as “Waukesha’s Premier Low-Carb Location.”
