Optimizing our monetization
Although we were still heavily working on the physical cookbooks in July, we were looking for ways to increase passive income for the blog. Our number 1 goal is to improve our users’ experiences so any services or products we promote have to meet our standards in multiple ways:
- Low carb friendly
- Consistent
- High quality
- Something we would use or already use
After much research and contacting other low carb websites, Vicky discovered that Leanne Vogel from Healthful Pursuit offers lots of quality products beyond her awesome blog. One that really caught our eye was the Balanced Weekly Keto Meal Plans.
As soon as we saw the sample meal plan Leanne offered her users, we were excited to promote it! Basically, every week a keto meal plan is emailed directly to the subscriber’s inbox which includes:
- 7 days of meal planning
- Shopping lists
- Allergen guides and alternatives
- Keto tips
- Simple to follow recipes
- Other unique bonus info in each plan
The price is very fair and is based on subscription term.
- Per month = $15
- Per quarter = $36 ($12 per month)
- Per year = $96 ($8 per month)
$15 for 4 meal plans a month is great. We also really like this service because if you’ve fallen off the wagon a little, you’ll immediately get a reminder when it hits your inbox. It’s a great guide to getting right back on track.
Affiliates earn 60% of each sale and it’s recurring! If a user continues their subscription, you earn when they renew.
We immediately signed up to be affiliates. Though this happened toward the end of the month so we don’t have data until the August report. You’ll have to wait to see just how well we’re doing as Leanne’s affiliates (our users really love her meal plans)!
NEW LOGO!
We finally had a new logo designed :). We’ve been meaning to have a professional designer make a logo for a long time and since we didn’t have much time for the blog, we though we should do something nice for it.
The new logo comes in two styles – horizontal and square for different types of media.
We love it! What do you think?
Tailwind Pinterest Update
Tailwind has been an invaluable help to us as we continued to work on our cookbooks. It’s an amazing tool we discovered which we immediately signed up for (after a free trial, of course).
Tailwind is a tool designed specifically for Pinterest marketing and offers a large amount of amazing features including:
- Schedule pins for times optimized by Tailwind based on audience engagement, virality, traffic and more.
- Schedule multiple pins at once.
- Schedule repins directly from Pinterest.
- Track repins, likes, comments, traffic and revenue on scheduled pins over time.
- See conversations about your blog or site across Pinterest.
- Track growth in followers, boards, repins and likes.
- Analyze post performance by category, board, keyword and #hashtag.
- Analyze traffic (and revenue) from Pinterest by integrating Google Analytics.
It a great arsenal of features and is relatively inexpensive compared to other tools we’ve seen and tried. You can get a free trial to start off before putting down any money.
We’ve been using it now for about 3 months and our Pinterest has never felt more alive! The tool helps us decide which times are best to pin to our boards, schedules the pins when we choose and even reminds us when our queue is empty!
If you haven’t yet, give Tailwind a try!
Our “In Five” Affiliate Program
We have a partner’s program for TryLowCarb.com in which 60% of every sale is yours!
If you’re interested in working with us and promoting our Breakfast in Five and Dinner in Five ecookbooks (and other future cookbooks in the works now!), check out our Partners Page for more info
If you have any questions about the program, check out the FAQ or contact us. We would love to work with you!
Conclusion
Overall, July was a slower month for the blog because of all our work for the cookbooks but it was crucial for us to get everything done. August was far more lively in terms of blogging. One of our books was finally submitted and we had just a bit more time to spend on Tasteaholics. August’s Analysis will be full of new and exciting things we’re trying.
