Dessert in Five is Here!
This was, by far, the hardest of the books to create. Desserts are harder in general as they often require baking where things are very precise and small adjustments make huge differences. Some desserts were remade up to 4 times until we got them perfect! But, the great news is, we’re finally done and the launch was fantastic!
For each book launch, we’ve always come up with launch checklists as there’s a ton of stuff that needs to be completed. Below is a piece of this book’s launch checklist:
SmartOffers Plugin Modification
The SmartOffers plugin is what makes upselling in checkout possible. The only issue was that it was limited to offering 1 product at a time. So if we wanted to upgrade customers from 1 to 4 or 2 to 4 products, this was not possible. For example: if they had breakfast and lunch in cart, and we wanted to upsell the whole bundle.
I hired a developer to customize the plugin so we can add as many products as we want to the upsell popup at checkout.
We are offering all 4 books at 12.5% off so the total comes out to just under $35 ($34.97).
We’ve been lacking on the Instagram end in terms of followers and overall engagement, so Vicky hosted a giveaway to announce and build up interest for Dessert in Five. 10 winners won a copy of Dessert in Five, and a grand prize winner won Dessert in Five, a T-shirt of choice from our online store & a 9-speed KitchenAid Hand Mixer! We gained over 1000 followers from the contest (that was a 20% increase at the time).
Dessert in Five was our most successful launch to-date! The launch drove over 1000 sales of the dessert book within the first week! As always, we offered our existing customers 30% off and subscribers 20% off. The bundle sales surprisingly stayed the same in upsell rate – about 90% of sales are for the full bundle (just like when we had 3 books).
Affiliate commissions went up with this new book to about $21 per referral of the full bundle! Everyone won with the launch. 🙂 Collectively, our affiliate partner program generated over $12,000 in sales for the month of August.
